Is Joost pushing the naughty factor a bit too much

Joost, the pioneer of peer-2-peer online TV distribution is starting to get noticed for it “provocative” and targetted visual publicity. I personally don’t mind it (hey, I am a man… you know) but some people feel less that excited about it.

I have been asked by some people I shown Joost to if it was some kind of a porn site!

My own sister told me she had been feeling bad when she had shown a couple of co-worker the site I recommended to her because the 1st thing that showed on the screen was a girl in skimpy bikini. Let say she won’t bring it up on her screen at work anymore ;-) But this is not really good if Joost want to be pleasing to a wider audience. Based on tonight main Joost site pictures one can clearly see that Joost is targeting:

Straight male that like sexy, inviting girl:

Male that like to drink beer:

And like extreme sports:

Another example of Joost advertisement to targeted audience is it’s weekly email advertisement:

But is it what Joost audience is really looking at? Looking at the 10 most viewed video on Joost it might be the case. 6 are about sexy girls and sport. One is the default welcome video and the remaining three are about more serious subject of Politic, Space Exploration and War.

Joost is publicly going after the typical testosterone filled teenage boy… It certainly is the big crowd of the internet… The issue is that Joost is not the only one going after them. Maybe Joost would be better of going after the “Chick Flic” type of crowd? Or the “Grown up” type that is after tv shows like “Heros” and “Lost”?

I don’t know… Joost is certainly getting noticed for it’s sexy side… but not necessarily with the expected results.
