Hulu chief: TV soon to premiere worldwide

October 30, 2021

Television shows will soon be released at the same time across the world, the boss of new online video site Hulu has predicted.

Jason Kilar, chief executive of the joint NBC Universal and News Corporation venture, said television companies would have to distribute simultaneously across the world because of internet video services.

He noted film studios have already stopped staggering film releases to cut down on piracy and added: “Television is heading in the same direction. At the end of the day, the users will win and will get access to content on their own terms.

Hulu, which has launched in beta, will host shows including Heroes, House and Family Guy. However, the beta test of the service does not allow some content to be viewed in territories outside the United States.
