Watch out for Joost at MIPCOM

It’s never been better for television fans worldwide. As a result, the world’s largest audiovisual and digital entertainment content trade show is expected to be the largest ever.

Multi-platform entertainment remains the buzzword as TV continues to migrate to an ever-growing number of devices, often portable, that include the ubiquitous mobile phone.

Mighty Internet operators AOL, MSN and Yahoo, social-networking websites like MySpace and YouTube, and emerging Internet-TV services Joost and Babelgum are all vying to capture the new multi-tasking generation of consumers.

“If you look at the younger generation, so many of them don’t watch television in the classical way,” noted Mike Volpi, head of global internet-TV service Joost, in an interview with MIPCOM News. Volpi will be one of MIPCOM’s most anticipated speakers at the show.

A total 13,485 participants and 4,251 buyers were signed up to attend MIPCOM late September 28 with the final number expected to be higher.
