AdSense is Coming to Google Maps
June 4, 2007
Soon, the bubbles that open when you click them will become much more interesting, but they’ll also carry ads. Google’s latest feature for Google Maps, called Mapplets, will enable developers to build applications within Google Maps, and add advertisements right into them.
At Google’s Developer Day conference in London, Andrew Eland, a software developer at Google, has given a presentation of how the new technology works. Publishers will be able to add images and text into them, but it will also be possible to add more complex applications (think Google Gadgets), which will allow for some interesting combinations.
We can expect more interactivity and some cool features on Google Maps, but since it will be possible to make Mapplets activate on a simple mouseover, we can also expect ads jumping in our faces while browsing the maps.
